So...because I have had so much extra time lately, I have been experimenting with different recipes. A few years ago my Aunt Adele collected tons of family recipes and put them together in a huge recipe book. I got one of the books and I've been trying to learn recipes. Well, Justin has been craving homemade rolls lately, so I tried that today. I followed the recipe as well as I could, but they didn't exactly turn out right. They refused to rise!! I don't know what was wrong with the yeast, but the rolls didn't rise one bit!!! So, eventually, I gave up on them rising and cooked them anyway, even though I knew it probably wouldn't work. They turned out to look like hard lumps of raw dough and tasted like a mouthful of watered-down flour. My dad is actually a pretty good bread-maker, so I think I'll ask him what I did wrong. The funny thing is, I've tried a lot of recipes out of the book and they've all been delicious. I guess having one botched try isn't too bad. Justin was so cute about it though, he ate one anyway and promised he would always try my weird recipes as long as I tried again and didn't give up. So...I will try again.
